Otis “Boy” Welch, Jr., 75 of Coalgood, KY departed for his sunset on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with his family by his side. His sunrise was on March 30, 1950, in Harlan, KY. Otis had worked for over 20 years as a heavy machine operator for Mary Helen Coal Company and worked for Advance Auto in Harlan for several years. Otis loved his family, and was an outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and was an excellent guitar player. He was also a member of the Mary Helen United Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis Welch, Sr., and Roxie Mitchell Welch; his brothers, Robert C. Welch, Billy C. Welch and James C. Welch and his siter, Diana Marie Welch.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty years, Belinda Welch; his children, Michelle Landis and husband Mike of Farmers Mill, KY and Beverly Stephens and husband Teddy of Cawood, KY. His grandchildren, Emily Hampton and husband Jacob, Abby Donahue and husband Nathan, Benjamin Landis and Hannah Stephens. His great grandchildren, John Luke Hampton and arriving soon, Dakota Michelle Donahue. He loved his special co-workers including Anna Renfro, Missy Hicks and Deborah Wilson along with several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 1-PM in the chapel of the Henson & Rich Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will also be on Saturday, from 11-AM until the funeral hour.
